Scrumpferg Christmas

Merry Christmas from the Scriptforge team! Whether your enjoying the day off or a few weeks rest from finals, we hope you had a merry time and have a happy new year! Maybe even look at a few of the doujins tagged "Christmas" on exhentai. Or "NTR." Whatever floats your boat!

Scriptforge's Spooky Thank"S"giving Salutations!

Thank you one and all for stopping by good ol' scrumpenfergen's block on or after what will be Black Friday. While we didn't get around to posting this on time earlier around Halloween, I do want to leave you all with a nice treat Skrats whipped up for us.

Jennifer's alternate outfit will be available in game and with an exclusive H-scene only when you pre-order from Gamestop. Power to the Players!

This brings up an important question - What has Scriptforge been up to in the last three months since we've last seen an update? More specifically, what have YOU, the lazy-ass Transversion team been up to since then?

The second question is far more complicated and shameful than I'd like to admit, so I'll blame everything on the Enclave team. I ask - what have THEY been doing all this time? Watching shitty movies, that's what. But the Transversion team is strong, dedicated, and lately we've been playing a lot of TF2. We almost beat Wave 666 on Nightmare, and around that time people kept telling us to update the blog. Almost a month later, I've finally used this Holiest of Days to do it!

Loli Merasmus

Eyedrop has excellent taste in animu tits
The RED Soldier also nailed to the wall is Eyedrop. The bond between Scrumpfug porn scribblers is indeed great.

So though, where are we really? "Are you dead or not?" you might be wondering if you're still coming to this blog. The answer is no. "Well then what are you working on?"

-Finishing up alternate sprites
-Designing and finishing sprites
-Finalizing and finishing CG
-Developing and editing music for scenes
-Waiting for PFM to come back from Hell the Darkest Pits of Oregon to finish up our script
-Finishing up three of the route's script (one of which is PFM's)

How long will this all take? Quite long - the consensus among most of the team is "this part of the year is bad for me," and that's 100% expected. The good news is no one has quit (unless PFM is escaping from me stalking him) and we'll probably hit a more realistic target of Summer of 2013 for the demo, unless a chain of miracles happens.

And that's all the news from me, Petra should post something covering his team's ass here soon, but the good news I can spoil there is that they're already hard at work on chapter 8 of their epic tail of "who writes for the biggest slut in Not-1984." As for who that is I can't say, I do not pay attention to the Lesser Waifus of others, and they all look like massive sluts compared to Purest Jennifer.

This girl belongs in a museum.

UPDATE TIME POWER HOUR: SLEEP APNEA EDITION

Miriam Orr, the diligent dissident

Bio: The shortest resident of the enclave at 156 cm (5'1"), Miriam is a curious bookworm that ended up in a higher class enclave due to her diligent work at the Museum of Man. Even though she usually radiates an aura of nervousness, she isn't terribly shy - she does, however, prefer to spend her time in the company of her enviable collection of books, ranging from creative fiction to history.

Status: We now have a couple of new tunes out since the last post as our musicians work their magic. On the writing front, we're currently fleshing out and making progress on day two of the script. We're also still looking for long-term artists, specifically those who would be willing to do sprite and CG work, among other things.

And remember, you can always join us down in irc.rizon.net @ #scriptforge!

Human, All Too Human

UPDATE TIME POWER HOUR: THE QUICKENING

Isabella Santiago, the augmented aviator

Bio: The daughter of two pilots that winded up following in their footsteps. Standing at 175 cm tall (5'9") with a lanky, casual gait and an odd air of laziness to her movements, Isabella is difficult to miss in a crowd. Relaxed, calm, and collected, she also stands out against the others as a solid, almost unchanging personality within the enclave. While boisterous and sociable when she needs to be, it's difficult to truly tell what goes through her mind underneath those thick shades of hers.

Status: Progress has been a little slow as an early script is being redone and rewritten, but in the meantime we have some new musicians joining our crew, Jamm and Aoiichi!

However, we are still lacking long-term artists, so if you think you can show us ya moves, join us down at irc.rizon.net @ #scriptforge.

Progress Report

Who Lauru Here?

Things have been fun lately, having finally announced our second VN project last week that's been sitting in the corner for some months now, while in the mean time development continues to march on somewhat slowly.

Transverion's script is mostly undergoing further scrutiny, including the fourth draft of the first and much of the second day, while the final day script is also being edited, reviewed, and having its last major components completed. I'm not sure if I said this before, but revising old work, building off of events that happened in the script, solidifying character interactions, etc, that's the best stuff. Hopefully, the polished demo build everyone can look forward to playing will take a recognizable shape here in the next 2 or 3 weeks, if not sooner.

Art is also progressing, with most of the sprites prepared; one CG is about 90% finished, another is at about 60ish%, two more are still rather early in production, and one or two more should be on the way afterwards. The music is going well for both VN groups, so both Petra and I should start sharing stuff here in the coming weeks.

We're still looking for artists by the way. Always looking for 'em ;_; More specifically, Transversion could still really use a dedicated background artist while Enclave just needs artists in general.

Platform 17. Your shuttle is leaving in 20 minutes.

After a good four months of developing, planning, and finally getting ourselves into gear, we at Scriptforge are pleased to finally announce Enclave. We're the other team at Scriptforge working on this project, so we're a separate act from the fellows working on Transversion.

The story
This is a visual novel set two hundred years into the future, where our current nationalities and border lines have been eroded into two rival states vying for political power after years of proxy wars. The main story and routes will take place in one of these states, which we know as the Progressive State of Utopian Commonwealth (PSUC). Here, political freedoms are sacrificed  for security and control, with people living scheduled, contained lives that are at the every whims of the government. Overpopulation has resulted in the creation of a constructed class-based system that is determined by personal conduct growing up in the nurseries. Those with more desirable traits are brought into the higher echelons of society, being given more luxuries and benefits than those who do not meet the criteria of the state.

The story will center around a select group of people within a designated enclave, with each character living out their lives in relation to the order imposed upon them. All of them will tackle different issues of this society, seeing both the negative and positive aspects of it.

But without further delay, here's a sneak peek at one of our characters. We'll be putting out (probably) weekly blog updates with status and other character reveals in the future, so keep an eye out!

Robyn, the quintessential activist

General questions
How many routes will there be?
Six routes total, and all the major characters will be revealed in the coming weeks ahead.

Will there be an expected  completion time?
We still have plenty left to do with our daily lives included, so expect this sometime in 2013.

Who is the main character?
This story will have a protagonist, Isaac Sharp, that the reader will follow and make choices for, but we're saving his actual design and bio until a later date.

How long will the story be?
We're still finding this out ourselves, but it'll be divided into several acts (somewhere between 3 - 5) at the least. Word count isn't necessarily important at the moment until we get the first act done. After that, we could probably give an estimate.

Will there be a demo?
Yes.

Are you recruiting?
Yes. We need an artist or two, preferably those with a wide range of styles, plus one or two more musicians, mostly those with electronic / synth experience. We currently have a couple of others from the other Scriptforge team helping out with art and designs in the meantime. As for programming, the other Scriptforge team has one who is currently busy on their project, so feel free to apply if you got the chops.

Who are the people behind this project?
As of now, we have myself, Reyrketill, and Telcath as the primary writers. Our current musician is Chandra. Most of our character designs / other art have been done by Skrats, and the lovely logo was created by Eyedrop. The other fellows working on Transversion are also our proofreaders as well.

And if you're interested, follow us on IRC! [irc.rizon.net, #scriptforge]

The Legend of Lorra (hopefully with a better ending)

The flat chested Laura enjoys a cigarette before work.

Laura's design contrasts with Lynn's character probably more than any other. Where Lynn had virtually no script written for her when we first popped her out, Laura had several thousand words worth of scenes, descriptions, dialogue, and whatnot (that of course has all been revised by now too and made even longer). She also had some concept art up beforehand (as seen in earlier posts). She was ready to be drawn from the get go, but since Skrats took over as her artist, we ended up going through largely the same design steps that we went through with Lynn.

European Laura?

Artists are like actors in a movie, in that they can bring a lot to a character that wasn't there before just in the script. There's a lot of neat things that happen when making a VN, and seeing what your artists come up with when they read through the script and start envisioning things is one of those. This was one of the early roughs Skrats made for Laura in her "punk" getup, which after a bit of dialogue between him and her writer ended up more refined later on.

Laura was my grandma's name so this just awkward to me.

Then we had some smut drawn of her in the interest of science, which I can bullshit as "it helped design her character frame so we have an accurate breast size for her." That part was actually somewhat of an issue for Laura and Jennifer, in the latter who's breasts started off large, then larger, before shrinking a bit back near their original size.

Here's the latest design for Laura's roughs. We tend to make a design for a rough, then a rough, and then from that rough a final sprite base which we then worry about making expressions for before finally coloring it. We only have about 4 more sprites we need to worry about at this point (though coloring reminds an issue), so the shift is now more towards CG, which I'll talk about next week probably.

Surprised By Design: All about Lynn

There's nothing too special to report this week, though the formatted script has grown to 23,287 to 26,036 words, which is always quite good. So for some filler content, let's talk about Lynn's design. Lynn was actually a character who was sort of made up on the spot: we wanted to have a fourth heroine, but the writer for that heroine ended up in the hospital, so after about a week of brainstorming a general plot and working with PFM to make my ideas less bad, Lynn was made, but she lacked any art. That's where Eyedrop came in.

Originally, Lynn was just Chinese, but Eyedrop loves his KPOP and K-On!!s and suggested some pictures, like the one above, for how he was thinking Lynn should look. After some quick discussion, we came to a conclusion on what she would look like, more or less.

This is one of Eyedrop's earliest quick concept pieces on what Lynn might look like, or it might have been his first, I don't remember which. After a few more sketches, we began to refine more and more what worked based off of aesthetic design and personality in the still developing script.

Although Lynn had very little writing when we began designing her, what was important was to make her distinct from the rest of the cast: Nikhila was Indian/South Eastern, perky, financially secure, and impulsive; Laura was tsuntsun, rebellious,  abrasive, well off, and ginger; Jennifer was a bit of a hodgepodge of Central and Eastern European things, controlling, rich, and patronizing. Lynn was then to be more of a counterpart to Jennifer, and in particular from the other two women, much less well off.

Another big reason for her character though was that I didn't want to write for another office worker, which we had two of already, and Jennifer was already one of Walter's bosses.

We agreed that Lynn needed short hair, but how exactly it would look wasn't too clear. This was us dabbling around between how her hair looks during work like the teenage girls we are. It is all very important when writing Office Space 2: Noir Boogaloo.

Eyedrop wouldn't stop hitting me until I  put up this true version of the topless Lynn.

And finally, we figured out how her breasts would look. Again, we we're going for something more distinct: Jennifer has nice legs/hips/chest; Nikhila gets a solid B or B+ in everything (and I would argue she has the best hair); Laura is DFC with a nice ass; and Lynn is just sort of skinny with average breasts. We probably would have made Lynn the DFC if Laura wasn't made first, but it still gives variety since you can go with Lynn if you want to date a Chinese woman or Laura if you want to date a Chinese boy.

Either we'll bring up another character next week or talk about CG. Thanks for reading!

Hey June, Don't Make it Bad

June is here in force and so are we along with many other fine OELVN devs. In the above are Nadia (or Nadya for fellow true believers, by Skrats) and Kara (as a "Piano Witch," by Eyedrop) from an art thing we did with the fine gents at CannonGirls Studio, and judging by the source of much of the blog's traffic, most of you already know that. If not, here's their blog where you can yell at FabulousResults for not giving that particularly well developed blonde pictured above her own route like I do every day.

As far as progress goes, our writing is going well as of late. Act 1 is currently at about 23,287 words ready and formatted with another 14k or so awaiting formatting and about 4k more in need of writing. As you can see, Act 1 is looking at about at least 40k words after we put in the necessary revisions, which feels pretty good, especially considering we have had to throw out a lot more than that to get to this point.

Art is also progressing, though not quite as quickly as the writing is, and the lineart for at least half of the sprites is finished, and the CG is still in development. Music is currently on hiatus, so we'll see how that ends up later. Needless to say, if you're interested in doing art or music, we're also interested.

I was talking about a "Days 1 and 2" demo back in may, and after some internal discussion there, it may or may not happen because it might just make more sense to focus on releasing the demo than a sort of proto-demo. But that will now, at this point, largely depend on 2 factors: How quickly our art and music develops, and how quickly PFM gets into the Planetside 2 BETA. Do you have any strong feelings on the matter? If so, drop by and yell at us, or leave a comment here.

Other than that, I'll be making some small modifications to the blog over the next few weeks and shooting for more weekly updates.

Mid May Madness

Earlier I mentioned that we were on track to release a revised script for the public's viewing pleasure sometime around now unless something bad happened, and that's more or less what happened. Due to busy schedules, the earlier part of the script has been in a sort of limbo, but that's scheduled to change around the 25th, not that that means much.

Beyond that however, the writing continues to do well, and the Demo is actually in some form of development now. There's a little betting gong around at the moment of when we'll have a demo out, December has been mentioned a few times but I like the idea of August. Either way, we'll actually have something for people to read in some form before either of those dates, that I can guarantee.

In the mean time, there's at least one more character reveal planned, possibly two, but I'm afraid those won't be around until probably June-ish. Regardless of what happens though I'll try to keep the blog up to date.

Hobo no Hatto

After what has been a total of 9 months now, Script Forge maintains a strict level of ordnung in its goal of delivering only the finest of thrilling murder-themed electronic waifu date-an simulators.

Despite this, we still haven't really produced a script for the first two days which we think is quite ready to show off to the general public. The good news though is that we're not far from releasing it, the script just needs to undergo one last review, followed by a big quality check to ensure most complaints go towards telling us how awful our writing is, rather than how bad our grammar is.

The wordcount is at least 13k, so its not much, especially compared to the next two days. In total, the script is maybe more like ~30k words, but that's a very rough number right now, and much of the newest stuff is still a big work in progress.

Originally I guessed that we would have something to show by early May, and it looks like we're following that trend nicely, which often means something bad is going to happen. Maybe not this time, though.

As for a demo for Act 1 (the first four days), that's still a ways off in terms of writing, art, and music, but if you forced me at gunpoint to give an ETA I would cry and say somewhere around August. Luckily, we're both better than that.

Beyond that, expect maybe just one more character update at some point, no idea when, but we'll try and make it happen soon enough so that its still relevant by the time we show off the script.

Character Bio: Lynn

This week ushers in another character we're legally obligated to showcase. Here's introducing the second character I write for, Lynn.

"Lynn is one of the many Office Maintenance Workers of AerOpiner, helping keep Walter's workplace and appliances on the Fourteenth floor from falling apart. Effectively abandoned as a toddler, Lynn doesn't remember much about her parents beyond what meager research she has compiled throughout her life and some blood tests.

Despite these shortcomings, Lynn has proven to be a resourceful woman and continues attending online classes, living off her meager salary, and aspiring to become a qualified civil engineer before she's 30."

Logos!

And finally, after many long months, we have a legitimate logo to show all of you. Thanks to our graphic designer Eyedrop for making it, along with the Script Forge logo.

If you see the blog wildly changing shape over the next few days its from us renovating it a bit. There's no real exciting news to talk about beyond this, just more write-an and draw-an to do. There should be a few more useful character bios over the next few weeks, then hopefully some good news to look forward to.

Character Bio: Nikhila

Another week, another main character to show off. This is Nikhila, who's also written by PFM, and here's the blurb he wrote on her:

"Nikhila is a character that serves double duty by being the obligatory Indian co-worker and being delicious and brown, because we here at Script Forge like to play to the classics. A recent transfer to AerOpiner's central valley offices as an Administrative Assistant puts her in the exciting position to bounce around the office like a superball, even though all she really ends up doing is getting coffee and faxing things. Nikhila faces every task with the same level of seemingly unflappable and genuine enthusiasm, which is something exceptionally foreign considering the drab, gray office she now calls her workplace.

Born and mostly raised in the Punjab region of India, she escaped to England for a time before coming to the States and finally settling in warm, sunny California with its friendly police officers who forgive speeding (as Nikhila is so often inclined to do) so long as you have a pretty face."

Name: Nikhila Ayer
Age: 23
Height: 5' 10"
Weight: 147lbs

How will Walter fair when he meets this Friendly Foreign Fresno Forza Femme Fatale? Fabulously? Well, maybe. Hopefully we'll all have a better idea of that in the demo, which we'll have new news on relatively soon.

Current Plans

Now I didn't want to make every blog update a character reveal for the next several weeks, so instead I wanted to say a few things before that, namely how far into progress we are and what you can expect in the next month or so.

Right now there's about three more character reveals planned, which roughly translates to about three more weeks worth of preptime for us before we start showing off anything cool. Currently our art and music assets aren't up to par to release a demo within the month, especially if we want good CG in there, so the plan is to release about a third or maybe half (depending on how you want to look at it) of Act 1 (~13k words), and put that into a script format and a pseudo-demo version (which would just be text and maybe some music, we're still not sure), and even then we're not entirely sure if we'll show it off. The idea though is we'll have it ready after the third reveal from now, though, so if nothing else it would at least be on demand.

So aside from that, the big question is "when will the demo come out," and the answer to that is "maybe four or five months?" Three if we kick it into overdrive, but no promises in the slightest there. Maybe six months is a more reasonable timetable. Who knows! Not me. On that note, don't take anything said here for anything, ever. Everything is subject to change, forever.

See'yall at the end of the week.

Character Bio: Laura

Christ, this week went by quick.

Speaking of which, its been a whole week and I haven't given any new updates, and it would feel wrong to start doing some cop out updates until at least three character bios are up, so you can probably see where this is going.

Anyways, here's the bio I managed to squeeze out of her writer, Edward! And of course, what reveal would be complete without some concept art I'll be yelled at for showing later. Neat stuff.

"Laura is another one of the charming women you'll meet at AerOpiner. She doesn't make waves, she doesn't put in the extra effort, and she sure as shit doesn't want to hear about your day. Regardless, Laura is your model employee, if begrudgingly. Trapped between her fathers expectations and his bankroll, she fulfills her role right up until the work day ends. Post-labor she drops the facade and takes on what she really is, a sponge for the nightlife. Short in stature and temper Laura can be found soaking in the music at any number of local bars."

We never wrote down anything about her height and weight, or I didn't look hard enough.

There will be a bit more information on the script itself and some other things here within the week, and after that, probably some dead silence, and then, big news. Yeah.

Stay tuned, true believers!

Character Bio: Jennifer

Well it almost took a week, but the next character reveal is ready for your viewing pleasure. Sorry for the wait!

(Edited with a more up to date picture the art guys yelled at me to put up)

"Jennifer is one of the many diligent overseers at AerOpiner, the company that Walter works for. Around the office she is known for the relatively low amount of work she pushes on her workers and a frequent lack of professionalism when it comes to supervisor-worker relationships. However, a combination of a simple workload, a very secure position in the company due to her family’s influence, and the looming threat of her potential replacement being worse have all managed to keep dissent down for the most part.

Though born in Romania, Jennifer’s family history, education, and business career has given her a unique mix of Romanian, Russian, and American culture; something that keeps her coworkers (and Jennifer herself at times) trying to figure out exactly where she’s from."

Name: Jennifer Renczi
Age: 24
Height:  ~5’ 8”/ ~178 cm
Weight:  ~135lbs/ ~61.2 kg
HC: Brown
EC: Blue (fucking retcons)

Character Bio: Walter

I promised that there would be some bios posted, and I did force PFM to write a bio, so let's start out describing the most important guy, Walter.

"Who's Walter? Walter is the protagonist of "Transversion" he's a narcissistic, bitter guy working at a dead-end office job in the Central Valley of California, surrounded by people who he only has varying degrees of dislike for. Walter's a bit of a social grifter, a mannerism he picked up at a young age when he realized he wasn't very good at reading social situations. To remedy his awkwardness, he adopts various personae based on how he believes others perceive him. He can be the fun-loving straight man who always comes in second one moment, and the next a coward who quakes in his cheap ostrich leather shoes at his ultimately harmless supervisor, but he can never be himself."

And of course, if you ever need more specific information about Walter to properly stalk his look-alike:

Name: Walter Davis
Age: 23
Height: 6’ 0”/182cm
Weight: 155lbs/70kg
HC: Black
EC: Green

Look forward to the next character reveal in about a week!

Our Visual Novel Project

So I talked mostly about Script Forge earlier, but no one wants to hear that. The important question is "what kind of horrible OELVN are you guys trying to push out this time?"

The short answer to that is Transversion, and here's the neatest description I could come up with.

"Transversion is a story about Walter, a 23 year old office jockey working for the illustrious AerOpiner Corporation in sunny California. As a man used to disappoint, Walter has long since accepted his fate as a pencil-pusher with only a chance of a promotion in fifteen or twenty years thanks to a healthy amount of alcohol and cynicism.

However, this year the company is hosting one of its well-known office parties, and Walter feels obligated to show up to a party with a date at least once. Unfortunately, as the party begins to end two of the guests getting killed, and circumstances leave Walter as the primary suspect.

From there on, Walter must fight to maintain his sanity, his livelihood, and for the chance to possibly clear his name with whoever’s help he can still get."

I realize this doesn't really tell you anything about the characters so far, which again, is something we're going to work on over the month. All I can say at the moment is "stay tuned for more murderparty waifu madness." In the mean time, here's some FAQ I've been able to compile.

Q: How many routes are there?
Currently there are 4 routes, though we’re working on having five routes total.

Q: Who are the characters besides Walter?
There are five main characters aside from Walter, and we will be updating the blog with character bios, partly since we need to update many of them as some are at least 6 months out of date. All the important character bios should be up with something to look at in about a month or less.

Q: Will there be sex scenes?
We are planning on having sex scenes, but not in every route, and there won't be a lot.

Q: How far are you guys into development?
We’re 7 months into development.

Q: How long is the script so far?
As of now, it’s at a grand total of 19k, but who knows how much that we'll be keeping or what more will need to be added on. And of course, we're only 60-65% done with Act 1.

Q: Will you guys be releasing a demo?
Yes. We also intend to release the first 2 Days in our script within a month or two after going through some editing and quality checks.

Q: Do you need writers, editors, artists, musicians, programmers, etc?
We do not need any more editors, writers, or programmers. We are actively looking for another artist, and we're mostly fine on musicians but if you want to help out that's would be cool. If you want to help out in other ways, we're looking for that too, namely photographers, just talk to us in IRC.

Q: I have another question not answered by this terrible excuse of a FAQ.
Feel free to shoot me an email if you have any questions about the project.

Introduction to Script Forge

Hello and welcome to the Script Forge Blog!

This was all made in kind of a rush, which will be fixed over the coming weeks as we strive forward to finish our OELVN, which has been in production for about 7 months now.

“7 months and you’re only putting up a blog now?”

Yeah, I know.

“Alright so how far into development are you guys?”

I would say “Act 1” is more or less 60-65% done. We still need to do a lot of quality checks and editing before we start showing anything serious off, but we do intend to show off the first 2 days of the script pretty soon here, which is currently at about 12k words. (Days 3 and 4 aren’t ready to be put together, if we did just pool everything together it would be about 18-20k words).

“So what is the Visual Novel about?”

I promise we’ll put something out very soon here, we just needed to get this bit out of the way while we’re still doing some housekeeping on our assets, particularly our forum for all 3 of our future fans out there.

I also need to work on an initial Q&A before I start asking things, so expect something in, at most, 2 days.

"Who is Script Forge?"

A bunch of guys who decided in a thread one day during the summer that they could show /v/ could make a VN. It has developed a lot since then, though we do want to try and keep this project within 4chan as much as possible (which means we try and recruit people from 4chan itself to retain as much authenticity as possible, without things getting too horrible).

Thanks for reading our first post, as more stuff develops we’ll do our best to keep everyone informed.

If you have any questions, you can reach me at errorname457@yahoo.com
