The Clown

Her power is maximum.

It only took me 10 months to make this blogpost.

So this is a character for our worm vn that is S T I L L being made and is taking for-ogre but it's getting there and it's gonna be great and now skrats can't bully me anymore.

Important things to note:
1. She's a clown.
2. There's worms.
3. Don't die.

Get hype over the release of episode 1 of "name still not decided," coming to torrent sometime in 201?

P.S. vermintide is a pretty good game.

W O R M B O Y S

Alright so it's been a while so here's a blogpost because skrats wants one.

Here's a worm I've been bugging skrats to draw.

2. We're hwaiting
3. We're gonna WIN
4. Its in the bag
5. You're a kid now
6. You're a squid now
7. TI4 was rigged
8. Jetfuel can't melt worms

Actual legit blogposts will come once I figure out how I want to write this one scene.

The Big Christmas Update!

First of all, Merry Christmas! Last I said there was a blogpost I wanted to do about the current state of things and with the winter break I finally got the time and organization to go into it.

I want to clarify the current situation with Transversion since last summer I talked about it and the main point didn't really get across, and of course it wasn't on the blog so there's no neat and tidy way to get a clear cut answer for it. The long and short of it is that Transversion is on hiatus, potentially forever. For all intents and purposes the project is effectively dead in the water. The reason for that being the project kept growing bigger and bigger beyond what we expected and as our first project I was really bad at organizing all the crap, sprite redos being a thorn still in my side. Would we like to go back to it? Sure, just not right now. I'd rather wait until we got more time to flesh out its script, get things more organized (esp. what assets are needed), basically I want 90% of the script done before doing anything else. And at its current size, that would take a long ass time.

The current plan is to produce a smaller project so we get some notoriety and so we can say we're doing stuff, which is where our current project is. Its designed to be a choice-intensive episodic VN similar to The Walking Dead where you can play the first bit, make your choices, discuss them, and have something to look forward to again in 1-3 months. We also like the idea since once the assets are done for the first episode we'll have well over half the art and such needed for the next, and then it just comes down to writing.

So what is our new project? Currently it doesn't have an official name, we've just been calling it "Worms Reloaded." I'm horrible with those, and Transversion took like 2 years to come up with after we had been calling the project "Murderparty" informally. What I can tell you:

1. You play as Everett, a convict from the infamous Leandro Prison which has served in the past as everything from a forced labor camp, re-education center, concentration camp, and arguably is still functioning as all of the above. After disaster strikes you get a second chance at life with a lot more chances at death along El Dorado Highway.

2. The emphasis on "worms" comes from the setting. All roads lead to Lodi, the capital of Langway, with several smaller but major cities spread around the city. However, the fauna of this desert world is deadly - giant desert worms are attracted to vibrations, mountain-sized macrophages move across the land destroying anything they run over, and large trilobite-like creatures hunt anything they can find in the wilderness, and are intelligent enough to bait out their prey utilizing anything from shiny pebbles to the screams of captured road workers.

Only the networks of roads around Langway offer solid protection against the local wildlife, though the cost of maintaining the roads would be staggering even without the money lost due to rampant corruption in Lodi. While larger cities always have a road activated for the transfer of goods, smaller cities and towns can be left effectively isolated for weeks, months, years, or even decades should their registries be lost or forgotten.

Scale of Things

A rough map of Langway

3. We've been working on this script since last summer, and even with long breaks the script is about 60% done. As you can guess, the episodes aren't long.

4. Due to the short length we're putting a lot of emphasis on making your choices matter, both in subtle and more apparent ways. We're hoping that as episodes go on, we'll be able to have your choices compound in different enough ways that replayability is high.

5. We're working on getting the data import system for Renpy to work and its annoying, so even if the method we go with works in testing we'll include a troubleshoot feature to "generate" saves in later episodes in case things don't work because of bugs/corruption/you switched computers/etc.

Sometime early/mid January as the script finishes we'll post some updates including more information about the locations, wildlife, and a bit on characters.

Twice The Cheer

Merry Christmas, from us, to you

The Transversion team made a post about a week back, and apparently that post just brought up even more questions, and the questions were good enough to get me to step out of the Peru queue for a minute to answer them.

The first thing on the agenda is what a modular spritebase means. It's really just a fancy way of saying naked, faceless sprites that can have clothing and expressions drawn over them. It lets our artists easily adapt new clothing and a plethora of facial expressions for one pose. Apparently it makes this whole art business easier.

Do I really need a reason to post Jennifer's breasts these days?

The second thing I'll be tackling is the question of our writing. Mostly numbers, routes, that kind of thing. As of this very second the total word count of the common route is 51408 words, barring the ones in Romanian and Russian. That's with Nikhila's day 4 scene about half finished and no work done on the NoGirl route as of yet, so it may top out at around 80 thousand. But the demo, which we're still hoping to release sometime this galactic rotation, will probably be longer than that. So that's somewhere in the ballpark of 80 thousand spread out over 5 routes.  You heard read me, 5. Nikhila, Jennifer, Lynn, Laura, and the NoGirl. You're probably already familiar with our heroines, but we have been planning to do a manly men doing manly things route from the beginning, and hopefully with our artists' talents for drawing depressed, unshaven men, it will deliver everything you could ever hope for in such a route.

As for the topic of abandoned CG's. Well, there's not much to talk about here, so have a picture.
I'm so sorry, Skye
As you can see, our artist drew himself in the picture. He's the one staring at the table wondering where it all went wrong after receiving the news that the entire bar scene he was working on had been cut entirely.

Music? Yeah, we've got that too, thankfully none of it's been cut either. First up is a piece from our good friend Sam Handwiches called "Chains." And the second is a wonderful piano piece from our resident musician Chandra, I don't think it has an official title yet, but here goes.

That's all this time around. As always if you have any other questions, or if you just want to berate us, drop by our IRC, we're #scriptforge on the Rizon network. Or just bother us in the comment section.

Now's the part of the post where I list off random numbers and facts and you have this picture of the sluttiest Transversion: Nikhila.

Worth a Thousand Words

Around the world, around the world.

The streets of Newport are home to people of all sorts, from the wealthiest fleet owner looking down from his penthouse in the centre of the Old District, to the poorest pick-pocket rotting in the dirtiest gutter in the slums of the New District. Somewhere in between sits Lucy, playing her music deep into the night by a lantern light.

Lucy is a vagrant of sorts, wandering from place to place adding another picture to her scrapbook. Most of her recent pictures are of the lovely streets of Newport, where she's been stranded without a method of leaving. Still, she makes the best of it and is ever looking for an opportunity to make her day a little more interesting.

----

And to top off the reveal with a news update, we've recently taken on two new artists. Skye, already a Scriptforge member who's been working on Transversion, and Kiwi, who you may recognize from her work on Allure in Bellum. You'll see their art posted here in coming posts. If you were waiting eagerly by your computer for me to drop by IRC or Skype with your 12 page resume and cover letter for your Beacon application, fear not! We're very much still accepting new members. Hit up the IRC at #scriptforge or my Skype at Reyrketill_.

And another song for all the good folks listenin' out there on this cold Winter's day. It's a rough draft created by fingers covered in Cheeto dust on an iPad screen, but it should set the tone right nicely.
